Red Bank Regional High School Presentation – Dec. 5, 2018

When: December 5th 2018

Where: Red Bank Regional High School

What: Sophia and Artemis Mazzini gave a presentation to student leaders (juniors) at Red Bank Regional High School about ITL. These student leaders help incoming freshmen get acclimated to high school.

Our presentation showed the importance of mental health care during teen years and how to overcome trauma and negative events that can happen. We also showed students where they can get help in their school and in Monmouth County.

“Into the Light brought awareness to me personally because the two young ladies brought a real experience to our school and showed us that throughout their non profit organization they really care for others & want to raise awareness” – Lori Todd, Red Bank Regional Counselor

“As an observer at the Into The Light presentation at RBR, to the peer leadership group, I was struck by the connection and engagement that happened during and after Artemis and Sophia’s presentation. During the presentation, the students were tuned in to story of what inspired them to form Into The Light and it was clear that hearing this from two women, who are their peers, makes Into The Light different from other groups that have a similar mission. It was clear that many could relate to their experience. What impressed me even more was the ease with which Artemis and Sophia engaged the students in a question and answer discussion on the topic of seeing certain events in life from a positive perspective. The students were active in offering ideas for helping the students they mentor to turn a negative event into a positive one.” – Katherine Blackwell, Former Red Bank Regional High School Teacher and Current Into the Light Board Member
