But he didn’t like discussing depression with his daughters.
“He didn’t want to burden us,” Sophia said. “We want to tell people, ‘It’s OK to reach out for help.’ We wish he did that more.”
That’s what motivates Artemis and Sophia, who are students at Rutgers University, to make their family’s tragedy public. September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, and they are marking the occasion by launching an event on Rutgers’ Cook Campus called “Into the Light: A 5K Run/Walk for Mental Health Awareness.”
